In Memory of Freedom

And so the light fades as the dark set in

Flashes of remnant musings of ages fill the

Senses of a life never lived

As one lies down on a concrete pavement

Cold and hard and barren, he

Thinks of the meal he might have eaten, or

Clothes wrapping his

Nakedness, oblivious to the elements

And in the absence of the simplest

Decency, one wonders why

Many are born only to suffer

It is not the scarcity or the

Laws of nature that

Imprison the

Dispossessed and oppress the

Exploited, kneeding them to kingdom come

But the desire for excess and power. To

Corrupt the juice of

Freedom

And there he lays half-dead, in

Silence.
